For All Suicide Prevention Stakeholders and Clinicians
The Kansas City Suicide Awareness and Prevention Program (KC SAPP) is convening a meeting of all Kansas City and Regional suicide prevention stakeholders to address the fact that suicide prevention efforts are not reducing suicides. Information will be provided about local suicide patterns and stakeholder participants will react to Dr. Bill Geis' challenge to reinvent our suicide prevention approaches. Clinicians will be invited to be involved in a new research project and training initiative and on-going prevention efforts.
Plenary Speaker: Dr. Geis is a professor, researcher, clinician and trainer of over 10,000 clinicians throughout the U.S. and recently in Canada, Asia, Europe and South America; past Clinical Division Director of the American Association of Suicidology; Lead Trainer for the Health Care Foundation’s Enhanced Suicide Care Academy; and Principal Investigator of a new grant to improve suicide intervention
Topics include:
-a look at suicide prevention, assessment, triage and intervention
-the unrealized promise of the 988 Crisis Line, Zero Suicide Care Pathways, and warning signs, and
