A Kansas native, DEANN, in one word, is an Entertainer. She has been a fixture in the Kansas City music scene since 2010, fronting the high-energy party band Superstar Mafia and captivating audiences across the Midwest.
Her journey as a songwriter began with her first single, SIREN, in early 2020. Like many artists navigating that year, DEANN found space to pause, reflect, and create. What emerged was her debut album, Play Them Cards (2021), a storyteller’s collection that marked her arrival as a recording artist with a voice of both grit and grace. That same year, she broadened her performance horizons with tribute projects such as Lone Jett & The Brokenhearts (a tribute to Joan Jett) and Blondage (a tribute to Blondie), lighting up festival stages and earning new audiences throughout the Midwest.
Now, with her new concept album Phoenix Rising, DEANN enters her most vulnerable and powerful chapter yet. Inspired by the mythic phoenix, the record is built around themes of resilience, rebirth, and renewal. Each song captures the journey of burning away the past, confronting struggle, and finding strength in starting over.
“Phoenix Rising is my story of rising from the ashes,” DEANN shares. “It drifts between reality and fantasy, carrying a dreamlike, ethereal quality while still rooted in my own journey. It’s about facing loss, finding light in the darkness, and emerging stronger on the other side. My hope is that these songs feel like both a reflection and an escape—connecting with anyone who has ever needed a reminder that renewal is always possible.”
