The second Saturday of every month is dedicated to young artists’ (Ages 7-12) talents in our classroom! Every month is a unique and exciting ceramic project designed to teach kids about art, develop creative problem-solving skills, and learn to express themselves in a fun and supportive environment.
There are two sessions, one from 11:00AM-2:00PM and another from 2:30PM-5:30PM. You can sign up for one or both sessions. During the break, an instructor will be present to oversee lunchtime (kids bring their own lunches).
September Project: Diorama Bookends
Students will create diorama bookends inspired by their favorite book, complete with small figurines and other movable components. Participants will actively discuss their book choices and share ideas before creating their pieces through slab, coil, and sculpture methods. Each will create a pair of bookends and characters or other items that exist within the shadowbox to represent their story.
October Project: Portrait Figurines
Students will create two portrait figurines from photos of people they know in mythical or fantastical outfits. Participants will first sketch out their ideas and write a brief story about their figurines to help bring them to life. Then they will create their pieces using solid building and sculpting techniques before finishing them with color!
Requirements: None, no experience required
Times: 11:00AM-2:00PM and/or 2:30PM-5:30PM
