REPS Presentaion - Forest of the Robertson Highlands

Dr Kevin Mills will speak on Forests of the Robertson Highlands,
with special reference to Robertson Basalt Tall Open Forest and Southern Highlands Shale Woodlands

The forests on the Robertson Highlands vary considerably. The key feature that distinguishes them are the dominant trees and the geology on which they grow. While geology is the primary determinant, each forest type varies according to rainfall, from a very high rainforest in the east (Knights Hill) to a much lower rainfall in the west (Bowral). The talk will explore these features and the forests to be found in various places on the highlands. The identification of the two main types of forest will be explained, pinpointing how to differentiate each forest community
