Online, two sessions
Tuesday, August 5, & Tuesday, August 12, 2025
7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST
Instructor: Ann Marie Thornburg
This class examines how paying attention to the space of the page can expand our poetry, writing, book arts, visual arts, and other arts practices. While grounded in concepts and examples from poetry, this class is for anyone interested in developing their understanding of how the placement of words in space creates and amplifies meaning. This includes visual artists who work with or are interested in incorporating text into their practices and combining it with other art forms.
Together, we will discuss varied examples of how poets engage space, time, line, and sentence. Much of our time will be spent completing writing exercises to focus our attention on these elements and experiment with them in our work. Participants will have the opportunity to share their work and receive relevant, supportive feedback from the instructor and each other.
A zoom link will be mailed the weerk of each session.
The class will not be recorded.
Teens & adults, all levels welcome
$75
