Sickingen Commemoration

Join the Sickingen Commemoration on May 7 and experience a piece of Landstuhl's history up close. The Sickingen city of Landstuhl cordially invites you to the annual commemoration of the death of the last great Imperial Knight, Franz von Sickingen️. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 7, at 7 p.m. at Nanstein Castle.

In an impressive staged presentation, the Landstuhl Local History Friends will bring Franz von Sickingen's dramatic final hours to life, accompanied by thunderous cannon shots from the Cannon Friends from Landstuhl, Bann, the Naheland, and Schallodenbach, as well as the celebratory sounds of the Bann Fanfare Band 🎺 Afterward, there will be food and drinks for everybody.

Franz von Sickingen is not only an important historical figure of the early 16th century, but also the namesake of Landstuhl. With his pursuit of a free knighthood, his commitment to the Reformation️ and his tragic end at Nanstein Castle️, he left behind a legacy that is still deeply connected to Landstuhl today ❤️
