You've heard the excitement building around the 28th Annual Julian Grape Stomp Festa at Menghini Winery right next door on Saturday, September 6th (11 AM - 5 PM) – a stompin' good time celebrating our region's bountiful harvest! But why stop there? The very next day, Sunday, September 7th, join us at Volcan Valley Apple Farm for the grand Opening Day of our 2025 U-Pick Apple Season. It's the perfect way to extend your weekend fun into a full harvest celebration!
What makes a U-Pick experience so unique and exciting?
Unlike grabbing apples from a store shelf, U-Pick lets you step right into the heart of the orchard – feel the mountain breezes, hear the leaves rustle, and hand-select the freshest, tree-ripened fruits with your own hands. It's an immersive adventure that connects you directly to nature and the source of your food, fostering a deeper appreciation for farming and seasonal bounty.
For families, it's a golden opportunity to create cherished memories: kids love the thrill of spotting the perfect apple high in the branches, learning about different varieties, and turning the day into an educational outing about agriculture and sustainability. Season Schedule & Details:
Opening Day: Sunday, September 7th – the start of it all!
Ongoing Hours: Open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday each weekend until the apples are all picked (typically through early October, depending on the crop).
Daily Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (gates close at 5:00 PM sharp; last bags sold at 4:30 PM to ensure everyone has time to pick).
Admission: $5 per person (FREE for children 5 years and under – family-friendly all the way!).
Apple Bags: $18 each* (each sturdy bag holds 6-7 pounds of delicious apples – mix and match varieties as they ripen throughout the season!).
Expect a rotating selection of heirloom apples like Empire, Golden Delicious, Jonathan, and more – early season starts with the tart-sweet favorites!
Parking Info:
FREE parking is available in the big field to the West of the Orchard. Please follow the parking signs around the big curve that borders our beautiful Pippin Trees to reach the designated area. Drive slowly to help keep the dust down – it creates a safer, more enjoyable environment for your fellow U-Pickers and supports the health of our trees and nearby vineyards. We appreciate your cooperation!
