Come join us for a hands-on experience in creating your very own healing drum with the talented Gabriel “Gabo” Ramirez! This workshop is a unique opportunity to learn about the ancient art of drum crafting while also tapping into the healing power of music. The drum is a part of native heritage from tribal cultures all over the world. This single sided drum is crafted using a wooden hoop or frame and a stretched rawhide head and lacing. Covered on only one side, the back is laced to form the symbol of a medicine wheel with the four cardinal directions that also serve as a hand hold. Great for drumming circles and meditation!

In this workshop we will begin with a Drum opening ceremony to connect to the Heartbeat of the Drum, followed by a blessing of the Materials and then start the process of creating our drums and beaters. After creating the drum, we'll celebrate its birth with a special Drum Awakening ceremony. We will then finish the workshop with a closing circle because birthing a drum is an intense process and one that is not easily forgotten.

This workshop will be facilitated by Gabriel "Gabo" Ramirez, a soulful artist, creator of sacred instruments, and facilitator of sound experiences for healing and consciousness expansion. With a career spanning more than three decades as a professional percussionist, his path led him to integrate art, spirituality, and ancestral wisdom into a single purpose: to activate the memory of the spirit and heal through sound.
