Non-visible and/or non-palpable veins affects one in three
individuals admitted to the hospital. Difficult venous access
(DIVA) is becoming a bigger problem for both patients and
healthcare providers.
In this workshop we will cover recommended practices
during the cannulation process, aided technologies such as
ultrasound and its key concepts and procedures to improve
first-time success for peripheral venous access and concepts
to reduce post-insertion failure.
Through engaging lectures and simulated practice using
vessel phantoms, we intend to provide participants with a
theoretical grasp of the DIVA as well as practical bedside
solutions.
