ARTIST TALK: Kay S. Healy

Join us for an artist talk from "Stil/Leven, Still/Leven" artist Kay S. Healy. Through her installations, Healy investigates themes of home, displacement, and loss. Healy holds a BA from Oberlin College, and MFA from the University of the Arts. Healy recently completed Casey’s Cases, a graphic novel series for children published by Neal Porter Books, an imprint of Holiday House. She lives and works in Philadelphia.

“I create installations of hundreds of drawn, screen printed, painted, stuffed, and sewn objects. Every piece in my installations has a story behind it, often inspired by interviews I conducted with a variety of people throughout my practice as an artist and educator. I have recreated objects people described from their childhood homes, things they lost and wished they still had, and most recently, items from interviews I conducted with people about pandemic experience...This work reminds us to consider how we interact with everyday objects, whose stories are typically depicted in art and culture, and the personal significance of an object regardless of its monetary value.”
