Rigid Heddle Weaving Class with Vevar

Join us for an exclusive Rigid Heddle weaving class at Johnstone Textile Space. You will learn to weave an envelope cushion that you will take home with you. Included with the workshop is a complimentary ticket to the Refractive film screen of "On Weaving" by Luke Fowler, that will screen at JTS at 5pm the same day. More about "On Weaving" below.

About Vevar

Vevar is a woven textile studio developed from years of passionate interest in design and the rich history of Scottish textiles. The product of two award winning designers, Christopher McEvoy and Chantal Allen, coming together to develop a modern micro mill in the heart of Glasgow’s East End - an area itself steeped in textiles history.

Vevar is a small batch manufacturer and design studio offering hand woven lengths on its range of antique and traditional sample looms.

With over 20 years experience of design and manufacture between them, Christopher and Chantal are equipped to tackle any project with expertise- creating textile solutions across Art, Design and Architecture.

Alchemy Film and Moving Image artists in residence Luke Fowler and Corin Sworn weave together a 16mm tapestry of film and photography in response to the legacies of innovative textile artists Bernat and Margaret Klein and their modernist Scottish Borders home.
