About the event

Everything I need to know I learned from a ghost town
Join author and Iowa essayist Dave Baker on January 7, 2025 at the Johnston Public Library. Dave is a writer from Ankeny who has spent more than fifteen years exploring, photographing, and learning about Iowa communities through his project ”The 29th State.” In 2025 he published his first book More Than Waypoints, which covers the history of all the incorporated communities in the center thirty three counties of Iowa. Come kick off the new year with this fun, fascinating, and family-friendly program on some of the communities that are no longer with us, and why they still matter. Event is free and open to the public. Program begins at 6:00 and will last roughly an hour.
