Lucas Kaczynski, a local educator, historian, artist. collector and storyteller from Maine, NY, has written AND illustrated a children’s book about Endicott Johnson and its impact on this region called E-J's Town: The Endicott Johnson Story.
This book is the product of three years of research and a love for the community. Kaczynski's greatest joy is sharing what he has learned, and he will read his book with the help of memorabilia from his collection.
The result?
A wonderful story that will take listeners on a voyage into the past and show them the importance that this company, its workers and the work ethic it created has had on our area.
Imagine seeing & hearing about people shopping at the EJ Public Markets, the busy Washington Avenue in Endicott surrounded by the factories of EJ and IBM, and the streets filled by workers living in the homes built by EJ.
The story caters to audiences that range from second- to fourth-graders, as well as their parents and grandparents with strong memories of the heights of the Endicott Johnson Shoe Corp.
Kaczynski illustrated the book by painting over 30 full illustrations and many other images to create the entire book.
