Restorative yoga is a practice of deep relaxation that emphasizes the meditative aspect of yoga. Utilizing props including yoga blocks, blankets, and bolsters for support - these postures are held relatively effortlessly for between 5 to 15 minutes.
As the body activates the parasympathetic nervous system and enters a state of deep relaxation, the mind can also relax. Your focus will be on your breath and becoming aware of sensations or thoughts that appear.
Restorative classes are typically very mellow, making them a great complement to our busy lives. I typically teach this on a Sunday afternoon to help support a good start for the week ahead.
The benefits of restorative yoga include increased relaxation, better sleep, improved well-being, better moods, pain reduction and it gently strengthens connective tissue around our joints.
I play singing bowls in my class during the last pose.
Please join us at the Canyon Mountain Center this month for this amazing opportunity.
