Clay workshop: Inside and Outside Containers🎨, with UJ Art Therapy

While aimed at kids 9-12 years, all are welcome to a fun workshop that combines clay building and creativity, exploring the theme "Inside and Outside Containers".
Excited and curious about what we would 'pack into our bags if we could take home with us', this hands-on workshop will encourage our participants to design and construct a small clay container. This is a simple, open box with no lid.
The magic lies in the storytelling of this little container: what will you pack inside? Your favourite snacks from home? A map or a compass to guide you home? Could you pack your favourite toy? We will fill our little containers with shapes of what “home” can mean to us.
The outside of the box will be decorated with textures and shapes inspired by our external world (Johannesburg, South Africa, even the Origins Centre). We’ll use fun textures like shells, fabric, mesh and plastic to press into the clay, making unique patterns that make each box exciting.
This workshop is about going on an adventure as well as exploration. Here, clay is play, and these little boxes will not be fired. This workshop is also an exciting sensory-rich experience!
