Knights of Columbus Council and District Soccer Challenge!
All boys and girls 9-14 years of age are eligible to participate and will compete in their respective age divisions. The event, sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council #3440, in partnership with the Burgettstown Area Youth Soccer Association (B.A.Y.S.A.), will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025, starting at 12:00 PM at 415 Joffre Cherry Valley Road, Burgettstown, PA 15021. There is no fee for this event. If your child wishes to participate, please make sure that they have the entry form completed before 12:00 PM. Two levels of the competition will be conducted on this date: Council and District. The Council Level event will be held first and then the District Level event will follow immediately afterward. Awards will be presented once all of the registered participants have completed their kicks and the scores have been tallied.
Note: The end time listed in this event is an estimate. Facebook events require an end time. The duration of the event is entirely dependent upon the number of contestants who register between 11:00 AM and 12 PM. Once all of the registered competitors have finished kicking, and all of the scores are processed, then the awards presentation will follow. Therefore, 2pm, is not a solid end time as we may finish earlier or later.
***If this event is adversely impacted by inclement weather, then the scores of those competitors who have already completed their 15 penalty kicks will stand for the rain date of 10/04 (There will not be a need for them to redo their 15 penalty kicks).
The Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge is sponsored annually, with winners progressing through council, district, and state competitions. International champions are announced by the Knights of Columbus international headquarters in New Haven, Connecticut, based on scores from the state-level competitions. All contestants on the local Council level are recognized for their participation in the event. Participants are required to have written parental consent. The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with more than 2 million members in over 15,000 councils spread among 75 global jurisdictions.
Winners of the District Level competition will advance to the Regional Level competition on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Greensburg. Winners of the Regional competition will advance to the State competition in November.
