Ready to soak in sweeping coastal views, walk among ancient redwoods, and reconnect with nature?
Join us for a beautiful and invigorating 5.2-mile loop hike starting from Shell Beach and climbing up through the lush Pomo Canyon Trail to the panoramic ridgeline of Red Hill. Along the way, we’ll journey through a mosaic of ecosystems—from shaded redwood groves to sun-kissed grasslands—each offering its own unique magic.
Highlights include:
Forest bathing and meditation in the redwoods
Teachable pauses to learn about the local ecology
Expansive views of the Russian River watershed and the whole coast
A relaxing picnic and grounding stretch circles to begin and close our day
Meeting Point: Top of Shell Beach Road (near Hwy 1). The Pomo Canyon trailhead is directly across the road.
Please be sure to map to Shell Beach in Bodega, as there are several beaches with similar names. Bathrooms are available at the trailhead.
This is a moderately strenuous hike with about 1000 feet of elevation gain. Wear sturdy shoes, bring layers, water, and any trail snacks you enjoy.
Walk mindfully on the land, breathe in the wild air, and witness the beauty of the season in community. Alok offers teachable moments about the ecosystem sharing his knowledge from 30 years of leading hikes.
We are offering this on sliding scale to accommodate everyone.
