Die in Zürich lebende Singer-Songwriterin Mel D kündigt ihr erstes Soloalbum Young Bones an, das am 5. September über Two Gentlemen erscheint. Gleichzeitig mit dieser Neuigkeit sagt sie ihre erste Europa-Tour an und veröffentlicht sie eine gemeinsame Single mit ihrem langjährigen Freund, Multiinstrumentalist und Produzent Dino Brandão.
„We Win“ ist ein verspieltes, Freude bringendes Stück Musik, das die unbeschwerten Töne von Mels Klangwelt vorstellt. Es ist ein weiteres Puzzle-Teilchen, das sich zu ihren bereits veröffentlichten Songs gesellt und ihre vielfältige Art zeigt, beruhigende, umarmende und berührende Songs zu schaffen. Sowohl die Single als auch das gesamte Album wurden in Zürich und Paris in Zusammenarbeit mit dem renommierten französischen Produzenten Renaud Letang und Dino Brandão produziert.
Das Album "Young Bones" ist eine zärtliche Umarmung und hält viele emphatische Momente parat. Mel D spricht die Sprache des Zeitgeistes und klingt dabei zeitlos. Ihr einzigartiger musikalischer Stil spielt mit verschiedenen Pop-Genres wie Indie und Alternativ. Die Songs klingen mal barock, mal jazzig, mal soulig, kontemplativ oder auffordernd. Jedes einzelne Stück auf diesem Album ist eine Ode ans Verbundensein – mit der Welt, mit dem Gegenüber, und vor allem: mit der Schönheit der Musik. Das berührt.

Cistern play rock music like the best bands formed at the periphery: raw, scrappy, intuitive – a group of friends forging awe and anguish into song. Inspired by the indie rock of the 00’s, 90’s slowcore and 80’s post punk and goth music, their sound balances their eclectic music tastes to create something uniquely their own. Their songs often incorporate obscure, angular melodies and grooves while trying to hook the listener with guitar lines and vocal refrains. They aim to challenge the listeners expectations but not to the point of exhaustion, offering both tension and release. Drawing on multiple songwriters and writing in a collaborative way allows for a wide variety of styles and influences to penetrate their music, often resulting in songs with unconventional song structures and drastic dynamic changes. Based in Squamish, BC a relatively small and isolated town, the band operates outside of any convention big city “music scene” - allowing a focus on writing and recording without much peer influence or industry tampering.
