Public Invitation: Winter Field Day

The Nickajack Amateur Radio Club (ARC) and Marion County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) invite the public to visit the Marion County Emergency Operations Center located at 300 Ridley Drive in Jasper, TN as local amateur radio operators take part in Winter Field Day on Saturday, January 24, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Central Time.

Winter Field Day is a nationwide operating event that brings amateur radio operators together to practice setting up and operating communications in cold-weather and emergency-style conditions. Visitors will have the opportunity to see radio equipment in operation, talk with licensed amateur radio operators, and learn how amateur radio supports emergency management and public safety when traditional communications are disrupted.

Now in its 19th year, Winter Field Day serves as a showcase of amateur radio’s unique ability to establish reliable communications during emergencies, disasters, and infrastructure failures. The event highlights the skills, preparedness, and public-service role of amateur radio operators in supporting communities when they need it most.
