(Details for meetup times/places will be updated leading up to October)
Gather the kiddos and head on down to Arkansas with us! These trips are a great opportunity to meet new friends, explore beautiful places, and choose your own adventure; our trips are casual, no RSVP required, and allow you to arrive and leave at your leisure.
Nick will bring multiple ropes, and is happy to lead routes in 5.6-5.10+ range to hang top ropes anytime we are out climbing. Bring your preferred belay device, and a harness for yourself and the kid(s). For kids new to climbing: I wouldn’t worry about climbing shoes (they can wear street shoes) or chalk bags, and they can wear their bike helmet. Parents, if you are new to climbing.. now is the time to get belay certified with RoKC or IBEX and continue practicing PBUS technique to prepare to belay your little human(s) safely on the trip; Our trips are open to all skill levels, but having basic belay skills is required.
Check horseshoecanyon.com/reservations/ for current rates for climbing, camping and cabins. NO DOGS ALLOWED AT HCR, sorry puppers. HCR features toilets and showers at both campgrounds. Wifi is available at the main lodge. There is no electricity except in the cabins and lodge.
Arrive and leave whenever you would like! Feel free to camp near the North Forty, these camp spots are first-come-first served, and if the weather is good you will likely be setting up camp pretty close to others on sites that aren't flat.
There is another camping area to the SE that is flatter, has more defined camp spots, but is much further from kid friendly climbing in the North Forty area.
