Free Community Event: Film Screening-Paris is Burning

Join us during the Jamestown Dance festival for a free community screening of Paris Is Burning, a landmark documentary that celebrates the artistry, style, and movement of New York City’s ballroom scene in the 1980s.

Ballroom was dance as defiance, as survival, as celebration. Voguing, walking, and battling on the floor weren’t just performances, they were ways of claiming space, of telling the world “we’re here.” This film captures that energy and shows how dance becomes a language of power, beauty, and belonging.
