Mata Ortiz Pop-Up Pottery Shop

Discover the beauty of Mata Ortiz pottery! Second generation ceramic artist Oralia Lopez is renowned for her finely executed geometric pottery designs, often inspired by nature. Lopez will be hosting a pottery pop-up in Sullivan Hall, outside of the Museum Shop August 1 – 3.

Originally from the village of Mata Ortiz in northern Chihuahua, Mexico, Lopez is part of a group of artisans carrying forward a centuries-old ceramic tradition rooted in the prehistoric Mogollon culture and the archaeological site of Casas Grandes. Join us for artist demonstrations throughout the pottery pop-up event included in your admission ticket or Museum membership.

Schedule:

-Friday, August 1 – 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
-Saturday, August 2 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
-Sunday, August 3 – 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
