About the event

JCMHS Annual Banquet: Celebrating Five Years of Preservation
The Jackson County Michigan Historical Society is proud to present its 5th Annual Banquet and Fundraiser on Thursday, November 13th at 6:00 PM, taking place at the historic Masonic Temple in downtown Jackson. This year’s event is especially meaningful as we celebrate five years of preserving and promoting the remarkable history of Jackson County. From uncovering forgotten stories to launching new publications and educational programs, the past five years have been a testament to the power of community-driven preservation—and we invite you to celebrate this milestone with us in grand style.

Adding to the excitement of the evening, each museum and historical society from across Jackson County will be in attendance, hosting informational tables to share the unique history, collections, and programs of their respective organizations. This collaborative showcase of local preservation efforts will offer guests a rare opportunity to engage directly with the passionate individuals keeping Jackson County's diverse stories alive. It will be a night where the entire historical community comes together under one roof.

A highlight of the evening will be a special musical performance by the Jackson College Jazzy Jets, who will treat guests to an array of historical big band pieces, including the iconic sounds of Glenn Miller. Their lively and nostalgic repertoire will provide the perfect soundtrack to an evening devoted to honoring the past while looking to the future. Guests will also enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by a local caterer, along with exclusive presentations and special recognitions in honor of the Historical Society’s five-year anniversary. It promises to be a night filled with reflection, celebration, and inspiration as we look back on all that has been accomplished—and forward to what lies ahead.

Attendees will step into one of Jackson’s most iconic landmarks for an unforgettable experience. Built in 1907, the Masonic Temple was once the pride of the city—a place of celebration, gathering, and ritual. Its cornerstone was laid with great fanfare, attended by local lodges, guards, bands, and civic leaders. Designed by renowned architect Claire Allen, the Temple was meant to showcase ideals of wealth, stability, and enlightenment, complete with multiple lodge rooms, banquet spaces, and an auditorium that once hosted lively fundraising shows during its early construction years. Though it closed in the late 20th century and later served as storage, the building’s historic character remains—and this year’s banquet will bring its spirit back to life.

Tickets for this historic event are just $25.00 and on sale now. We encourage guests to secure their seats early, as space is limited and this event is expected to sell out. Whether you’re a longtime supporter or new to the Historical Society, this evening will offer something for everyone who values the stories, landmarks, and legacies that define Jackson County.

All proceeds from the event will directly support the Society’s mission to preserve local history through public programs, exhibitions, publications, and outreach initiatives. At a time when local histories are increasingly under threat of being forgotten, torn down, or erased, the importance of this work has never been more urgent. By attending, you are helping ensure that the diverse and rich heritage of Jackson County continues to be protected, remembered, and celebrated for generations to come.

We look forward to sharing this special evening with you inside one of Jackson’s most storied buildings. Together, let’s celebrate five years of progress—and set the stage for many more to come.
