These workshops are open to anyone interested in exploring movement as a way to deepen body awareness, improve mobility and enjoy dancing in connection with others. The workshops offer an original blend of dance practices, combining contemporary dance, elements of Body-Mind Centering®, relaxation and mindfulness techniques,as well as capoeira, and a pinch of partnered styles such as forró, tango, and fusion dance.
Objectives:
To unwind and enjoy improvised movement — with or without prior dance experience
To deepen body awareness
To develop connection with dance partners
To learn techniques from various dance and movement forms and apply them in improvisation
To stay active while having fun and sharing enjoyable moments
Workshop 1: Floorwork for all: an organic approach
This workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of floorwork and level transitions, drawing inspiration from somatics, contemporary dance, improvisation, and partner dance methodologies.
Through guided exercises and improvisational tasks, participants will develop comfort and agility in navigating the floor while exploring how movement can be initiated from different parts of the body. Using partner exploration and improvisational prompts, participants will discover creative pathways and refine their sense of balance and flow.
The workshop’s organic approach to movement makes it accessible to movers of all levels and backgrounds.
Workshop 2: Grounding and center
This workshop explores a question Dimitrii has been pursuing for years: How can we grow and expand while remaining grounded? How can we be centered yet detailed and mobile?
Through gentle explorations with the hands, feet, pelvis, and stomach, we’ll seek the point from which our movement originates — a shared center of balance, presence, and growth.
