This is a small, guided, observation-focused rockhounding experience hosted during a public dig day at Diamond Hill Mine.
The goal isn’t chasing finds or guarantees. It’s about slowing down, learning how to read the ground, noticing material transitions, and understanding what you’re actually looking at.
This experience is especially well-suited for beginners, families, and kids who are new to rockhounding.
The guided portion is intentionally limited (approximately 20–25 participants) to keep the environment calm, safe, and hands-on.
During this time, we’ll focus on:
1. Observation before extraction
2. Process over outcome
3. Reading material context and ground clues
4. Responsible, respectful digging
After the guided portion concludes, participants are welcome to continue digging independently under normal Diamond Hill Mine rules. We'll be around for the rest of the day and happy to help answer questions or talk through what you’re seeing.
Important details:
1. This event takes place during a public dig day at Diamond Hill Mine.
