Dark times need bright words, so join SoapBox for a special 'EmpowerUs' edition of Words & Verses, our monthly, free spoken word open mic.
Bring and/or write poems/stories/jokes that uplift, motivate, empower and celebrate this world we share.
Usual wordy shenanigans, poetry, spoken word, storytelling, comedy, rap and more. Roughly 5 minutes each (though we'll go round again if there is space/time). Sign up on the day, or email tobook a spot if you're travelling or it helps you feel comfortable.

Hosted by Amy Wragg, the Eastern region's longest running poetry producer, promoter and organiser.
Proudly brought to you by SoapBox Spoken Word CIC, the only legally registered spoken word non-profit company across the East. SoapBox (as an idea) started in 2006, so we have been creating fantastic, inclusive and authetic poetry events for 19 years.
Words & Verses is our longest running event, starting in 2012 at The Spread Eagle and taking place monthly, it was Ipswich's first dedicated & regular spoken word open mic, rapidly approaching our 100th edition! We are delighted that W&V is no longer the only poetry event in town, and adore how vibrant our local spoken word community is.
Amy Wragg is trained in safeguarding, has a full DBS, and is insured as an artist to deliver work.
All welcome (18+ venue). Please continue to support this amazing pub that has hosted us for so long. We love them.
