Belonging by Design: Play That Includes
Creating conditions where regulation, inclusion and play thrive.
This full-day professional learning workshop explores practical, realistic ways to shape environments, strengthen educator language and deepen play practice to intentionally build belonging for all children.
Grounded in playwork, neuro-affirming practice and real-world early learning contexts, this session supports educators to design spaces and practices that support regulation, connection and engagement.
Educators will leave with clear, achievable strategies they can implement immediately to create more engaging environments and support stronger outcomes across their service.
Educators will:
Understand why play is a regulation tool, not a reward
Use loose parts to support creativity, collaboration, and calm
Make low-cost environmental changes that reduce escalation
Identify and support sensory needs through play and movement
Use neuro-affirming language that preserves dignity, agency, and belonging
Feel more confident supporting risky and challenging play
