Parenting Teens: Connecting with Teens in a Digital Age Workshop

Join other caregivers of teens for an afternoon of learning and discussion about evidence-based strategies for communicating and connecting with teens in a digital age.

The workshop will include a teaching portion, group discussion, and reflective exercises led by Dr. Rachel McLaren, a professor in the Communication Studies Department at the University of Iowa, and Dr. Rachel Young, a professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Participants will leave with frameworks for understanding teens and specific strategies and scripts for how to respond to typical tricky situations. This will take a positive parenting approach that is based on cultivating a healthy communication climate between caregivers and teens.

This workshop is free of charge, but registration is required. There will be an option to participate in a research survey.
