Charlotte Leland Blue, age 10, of Frederick County, Maryland, departed this life on June 26, 2025 at Children’s National Hospital in Washington D.C. Born on September 12, 2014, she is the daughter of Ourania Fitzwater, née Morfessis, and Leland Blue.
Charlotte is simply the most considerate, inquisitive, and feisty girl you will ever meet. Her effervescent spirit, drive, and tenacity are some of her key defining traits, and what kept her with us for so long. Charlotte’s selflessness and genuine caring nature have no boundaries and are evident with every connection she makes.
Growing up in the Walkersville, MD community, Charlotte excels as a student at Glade Elementary School, where she has achieved Honor Roll status. Charlotte is an active founding member of Girl Scouts of the Nation’s Capital Council, Troop 37176, where she bridged to Cadettes on June 1, 2025. She successfully completed the Agent of Change Journey and earned approximately 15 badges and 45 patches. Her determination and spirit shines through her many accomplishments. Charlotte has also been recognized by the Council for her outstanding fundraising efforts, consistently ranking among the top sellers for cookies and fall products.
She has many talents as an avid artist, often sketching her favorite animal, an axolotl, or her favorite Pokémon, Umbreon, in odd settings that make her laugh. Her preferred artistic medium is sculpture, a skill she honed by creating incredibly small works of art. Charlotte also has a beautiful and delicate singing voice, a talent she seldom shares, though is a treasure to hear.
Some of her greatest joys are exploring the world through food, regaling her family with her sense of humor, and diving headfirst into whatever adventure she so chooses. Charlotte delights in dining out, particularly for Korean barbeque, and enjoys traveling to Turks and Caicos, where she loves to swim in the ocean and drink virgin piña coladas on the beach. One of her most frequented past times is playing video games; she is quite skilled in playing Minecraft and has built many worlds of her own design. She values the beauty and strength of sakura trees and respects the symbolism of the blossoms: renewal, new beginnings, and the ephemeral nature of life.
Charlotte has a strong sense of who she is and speaks up for herself and champions others. She is uniquely her own person. Her light shines brightly on everyone she encounters and will continue to do so through the joy she brings to her family and friends. Charlotte is mature beyond her years, and wise and witty to boot. She gifts everyone she touches with her welcoming smile, radiance, strength, and warmth through which her legacy lives on.
