Important Event Details: (Hermit Creek Falls - PALUMA)

Nestled deep within the rugged beauty of Paluma State Forest, the hike to Hermit Creek Falls is a hidden gem for those seeking adventure and dramatic natural scenery, accessible by a short hike. We haven’t visited the falls in a while, so we’re looking forward to this one!
Starting from the National Park near Hidden Valley, the route begins with a short bushwalk through open woodland before descending into the creek. From there, hikers follow the rocky creek bed for approximately 700 meters, weaving through granite slabs and sandy banks until reaching the base of Hermit Creek Falls. The falls themselves are a series of cascades tumbling over wide rock platforms, forming seasonal pools perfect for a refreshing dip, especially after the wet season when water flow is at its peak.
This moderately challenging hike is open to all ages, fitness levels and abilities.

To access Mount Spec Road, all attendees must hold a valid permit—no exceptions. This is a legal requirement enforced by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Michael has personally tested the process and received his permit within an hour, so it’s quick and straightforward. However, please plan ahead to ensure you have your permit in hand before the event.
⏰ Access to Mount Spec Road is strictly limited to 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, so please time your travel accordingly.

The hike will involve OFF TRAIL hiking
The total DISTANCE of this event will be ~5km
The TIME this event will take depends on group dynamics, however we estimate 3 hours at a moderate pace with breaks and allowing everyone to explore the area.
The GROUP SIZE of this event will be ~12.

We will MEET at the Paluma Community Center (55 Mount Spec Road, Paluma) at 8am sharp for a pre-hike/safety briefing and to organise carpooling to the start point at Hidden Valley.
Please BE ON TIME and considerate of your fellow attendees by changing your RSVP if you cannot attend.
Please be open to CARPOOLING to reduce our environmental impact and traffic on the road.
