About the event

Solving the Unsolvable: How Forensic Genealogy Cracks Cold Cases
Forensic genealogy is changing the game in modern criminal investigation. By combining DNA analysis with family tree research, investigators are now able to solve cases that went cold decades ago. In this presentation, we’ll discuss the basics of how forensic genealogy works, including the tools, techniques, and ethical questions involved. We’ll also take a closer look at two powerful examples—how this method helped identify the Golden State Killer, and how it brought justice in the April Tinsley case here in Indiana. Instructor: Ken Eilert
