Distressed about discord in our country right now?
We will host a special introductory training session on the practice of "compassionate listening" led by our Pastor Amie Vanderford.
The one- to two-hour program will be at noon Sunday, Sept. 28, following the 10:45 morning worship service.
"This training will be very beneficial for all those who want to have stronger supportive interactions and improve compassionate listening skills," Amie explained. "In an age when people are divided on any number of issues, these skills will teach how to listen to gain understanding and find common ground on matters that affect us all in community."
She brings special skills, education, and training to the topic. In addition to a Master of Divinity, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations, with an emphasis on conflict resolution and cross-cultural communication, from The American University in Washington, D.C.
There is no charge for the training program and a light lunch will be served, so reservations are needed. Please RSVP to the church office at 620-331-0241 or via email at
