It’s 1672, Port Royal, Jamaica. You are “merchants”. At least that how you refer to yourselves. To others, you might be called “privateers”. Or as they are more commonly known, “pirates”. But it’s just a name, right? You and your fellow “merchants” are vying for influence and power within the port. And in this case, knowledge is not the power you’re searching for. It’s gold.

Port Royal is a medium-light push-your-luck card game for 1 to 5 “merchants” that plays in about 45 minutes. On your turn you will draw cards from the deck in search of crew, ships to plunder, and expeditions to fulfill. You can stop whenever you want. But beware, taxes are an ever present danger to those with piles of gold. And if you push your luck too far and bust you get nothing but wasted time. The “merchant” who reaches 12 influence first becomes the new Governor of Port Royal and reaps all the benefits of that station.
