2026 Kimmswick Apple Butter Festival — Event Overview

The festival takes over city streets, which will be closed to vehicle traffic starting at 8:00 AM each morning.
WHAT TO EXPECT/ KEY ATTRACTIONS
1. Apple Butter Demonstration
The Apple Butter Pavilion, run by the Kimmswick Historical Society, will demonstrate traditional apple butter making.
Large copper kettles simmer over open fires, giving you a taste (and a smell) of heritage apple butter.
Fresh apple butter for sale — you can take home jars of the festival’s signature spread.
2. Vendors & Crafts
Hundreds of vendors including artisan crafters, merchants, and artists.
Specialty food trucks and food booths offering fall-themed fare.
There is also opportunity for “activity / entertainment” vendors (face-painting, balloon artists, etc.).
3. Live Music
Throughout the weekend, there will be live musical performances—bluegrass, country rock, dulcimer, and more.
4. Family Activities
Kid-friendly attractions: petting zoo, pony rides, playground.
Face painting at multiple locations. Henna Tattoos.
Emergency / first-aid staff on-site; lost children are taken to City Hall until they can be reunited with their families.

Applications open October 25, 2025, and close February 15, 2026.
Payments are charged on approval; the approval process begins March 15, 2026.
LOGISTICS FOR ATTENDEES
Parking & Transportation
Because streets are closed during the festival, parking is limited. Parking is available at Windsor Intermediate & Windsor Highschool for nominal fee (proceeds support Windsor students), bus services shuttling attendees into town is free! Windsor Elementary provides parking for $20 (proceeds go to the Windsor Wrestling team-this is the closest parking location into the festival and is only accessible from Montebello Rd.) Windsor also provides parking in fields located on the Southside of Hwy K for nominal fee-requires small walk into the festival grounds. The City of Kimsmwick provides parking for $10 in the ballfield located on the Northside of Hwy K. The Anheuser Estate provides parking as well for a nominal fee, located on Windsor Harbor Lane.

Windsor Elementary
Windsor Intermediate & Highschool with buses that are ADA compliant shuttling attendees into town.
Each location requires nominal fee for parking.
SHUTTLE SERVICES ARE FREE.

Restrooms/ADA accessible Restrooms are located throughout the festival.
Baby changing stations are located throughout the festival.
Lost & Found is located at City Hall on Third St. The Kimmswick Visitor Center also provides a Lost & Found on Market St.

It’s a very popular festival — thousands attend — so planning for parking / arrival early is recommended.
HIGHLIGHTS & WHY GO
Tradition: Watching apple butter being made the old-fashioned way is a centerpiece of the festival — rich in history and very photogenic. This will be the festivals 49th year!
Vendors & Crafts: Great place to buy handmade crafts, autumn & winter decor, and local food products.
Family-friendly: With petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, and live music, it’s great for all ages.
Food: Not just apple butter — food trucks + local favorites make for a tasty weekend.
Community: The festival brings together the local community, artisans, and visitors in a charming, historic small-town setting.
