Come and join us for a day of beach fun at Beards Hollow in Ilwaco! 🏖️
We’ll meet at the Beards Hollow Trailhead around 10:00 AM and take an easy, beginner-friendly ½-mile hike down to the beach. This beautiful and historic area is part of the Discovery Trail and features scenic views, rest spots, and informative historic markers along the way.
Please note that a Discover Pass or Day Pass is required for parking and should be purchased ahead of time. The beach can be cold and windy, so dress in warm layers, including hats, water-resistant pants, and sturdy footwear. Bringing a change of dry clothes is strongly recommended. Low tide is at 9:00 AM and high tide is near 3:00 PM, giving us several hours to explore, play, and relax.
Bring a blanket, sack lunch, and snacks for a beach picnic, along with life vests, beach toys, and bags for collecting treasures. Kites are highly encouraged—the Long Beach Peninsula is world-famous for kite flying, with steady coastal winds that draw visitors from around the world.
Those who wish may explore tide pools using gentle, respectful observation of marine life. Keep an eye on the horizon as well—gray whales are migrating, and binoculars are encouraged for spotting spouts or breaching whales.
