Black History Concert

Idyllwild Arts proudly presents our annual Black History Concert! This year’s concert celebrates the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Jazz Program and Dr. Marshall Hawkins’ teaching at Idyllwild Arts. The performance will highlight the history and lineage of Black History through the life and work of Dr. Hawkins, drawing upon his collaborations with Miles Davis, Shirley Horn, Bob Boss, and others, as well as the humanitarian message he has shared through music and education. Audience members can expect a range of student, faculty, and guest artist performances that together illuminate the rich history we gather to honor.
