This free poetry reading at the MAC will have an Open Mic before the featured speakers. Space is limited at the Open Mic, signup will start at 645 pm. Refreshments will be served. Series is coordinated by Linda Carney-Goodrich.
Danielle Jones holds an MFA from UMass Boston. Her work has appeared in Beloit Poetry Journal, Best New Poets, Incessant Pipe, Memorious, The Museum of Americana, Rattle, Southern Poetry Review, and elsewhere. Danielle is the recipient of a Rona Jaffe Writer’s Award, and has received fellowships from the Brother Thomas Foundation, Mass Cultural Council, and St. Botolph’s Club Foundation. She works at the University of New Hampshire, where she teaches writing, directs the Nossrat Yassini Poetry Festival, and manages YAS Press.

Christine Tierney is a poet, flash fiction writer, and digital collage artist. She holds an MFA from the Stonecoast Writing Program at the University of Southern Maine and a BA in Film from Emerson College. Her debut book chicken+lowercase=fleur was published by Lily Poetry Review Books. Her poetry has been nominated for Best of the Net, a Pushcart Prize, and Best New Poets, and her work has been published in Fourteen Hills, Poet Lore, The Tusculum Review, Sugar House Review, Cider Press Review, Permafrost, The Boiler Journal, and other notable publications.
Durane West, spoken word artist, and educator is born and raised in Boston. He channels intense imagery, and intuitive emotional exploration to showcase transparency in his writing. Through versatile form usage and raw introspective diction West offers his readers a sneak peek into his adventure filled mind.
West has several years of experience working in the non-profit sector for organizations that aim to improve literacy skills for inner city youth throughout Boston. West was nominated in 2022 and 2024 for Spoken Word Artist of the Year at the Boston Music Awards. His poem “617”, centering the experience of a black Boston resident was featured and published for the City of Boston in 2021.
