Auditions for Dancing Roles - 2025
Prairie Nutcracker© auditions for the December 12, 13 & 14, 2025 productions at Hutchinson’s Historic Fox Theatre will be held SATURDAY, September 20th @ ArtisTree, 116 S. Main, Hutchinson, KS.
Audition Schedule:
Dancers 7-11 years (Beginning/Intermediate level)
9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Dancers ages 12 and up (Intermediate/Advanced level)
10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
(Pointe dancers may be asked to stay no later than 12:15 p.m.)
Boys NEED to audition on this day as well. Adults do not need to audition on this day.
Audition Requirements:
You will fill out an audition form upon arrival, so please give yourself enough time to do so, before the audition begins.
• Dancers are expected to audition in leotard, tights and ballet shoes (bring pointe shoes, if en pointe). Dancers should already be dressed for audition when they arrive, however, please wear a cover-up coming and going. A ballet barre and ballet floor work will comprise the audition.
• Dancers need to bring a head shot or photograph of self to attach to audition form (no bigger than 5 x7)
• Dancers auditioning for the 7-11 age group, must have at least 1 year of ballet and must presently be enrolled in a pre-ballet/ballet class for the current season. Please list your current studio.
•Dancers auditioning for the 12 and up age group, must be taking at a minimum, a twice a week ballet technique class.
• Dancers who cannot be present for rehearsals and the performance dates below should not audition. However, if there is
a specific time or date you would not be available for rehearsals, please list these times and dates. It might be possible to design your rehearsal time around your conflict or might be possible to consider that absence excused without losing your part. Otherwise, parts are given to understudies for absences.
The key dates for dancers are:
Audition results posted Tuesday, Sept. 23rd after 4:00 pm. Contracts due back by Thursday, October 2nd by 6 pm.
Sunday afternoon rehearsals begin October 5th through November 30th. (Select dancers may start Sept. 28th). Specific times given with contracts. We will have rehearsals Thanksgiving weekend only if needed. It is our goal to have this day off as a rest day.
All Cast Run-Thru: Saturday, December 6th, 12:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Specific times given for each piece.
Production week in Fox Theatre-December 8 (Act I), December 9 (Act II), December 10 & 11 (entire show)
Mon-Thurs night, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. (Mon & Tues nights will end earlier).
During Prod Wk- Mandatory Company class for Waltz of Flowers/Snow M-Th @ ArtisTree @ 4:15 p.m.
Fox Theatre’s School Informance for selected pieces Friday, December 12th. Call is at 9:15 a.m. ends 11:30 a.m.
Opening Night and Evening Show: Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13 both @ 7:30 p.m.
Cast Call is 6:00 p.m., for younger dancers call is 6:30 pm
Matinee: Sunday, December 14 @ 3:00 p.m. Cast Call is 1:30 p.m., for younger dancers 2:00 p.m.
Results posted on the window of ArtisTree, 116 S. Main by 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23. If selected, the dancer and a parent are
expected to sign and return a contract, along with a $45 membership fee. Snow company dancers & Adult Dignitaries exempt from membership. fee. Contracts must be returned to the Prairie Nutcracker office at 116 South Main (drop in locked mailbox).
Parts are subject to understudy if a contract is not received by 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2nd.
