Aero-Optics: An Overview of Onboard Imaging Through Flowfields

Abstract:

Aero-optics refers to the impact of air flow around an airframe on optical sensor performance. This will be an overview of how aerodynamic flow impacts the imaging quality of an onboard sensor, and several approaches to the optical modeling & simulation for prediction of these effects.

About the speaker:

Anne-Marie Dorsett is currently a Senior Optical Engineer at Polaris Sensor Technologies leading the aero-optics modeling and simulation efforts. She has spoken at multiple conferences on this topic, most recently at Hypersonic Technology & Systems Conferences and the DoD’s Electromagnetic Windows Symposium. She has over thirty years of experience in aero-optical and optical analysis, sensor design, modeling and testing, optical measurements and design, optical signal processing, radiation effects, and radar analysis supporting a wide variety of programs and including program management, technical leadership, and training rolls. Ms. Dorsett received her B.S. in optical science / engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
