Tracing the extraordinary journey of the 14th Dalai Lama from childhood to exile, Martin Scorsese’s Kundun is one of his most poignant and visually arresting films. Set between 1937 and 1959, this sweeping historical epic chronicles the Dalai Lama’s early life, spiritual awakening, and peaceful resistance following the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1950. With a screenplay by E.T. writer Melissa Mathison, based on interviews with the Dalai Lama, and cinematography by Oscar-winner Roger Deakins, Kundun is a meditative and deeply human portrait of faith, identity, and resilience.
