Calvert Ellis Distinguished Lectureship with Richard Kiely

Join us at Juniata College for an evening with Richard Kiely of Cornell University as he presents “Lessons Learned from the Field: Cultivating Transformative Community and Global Engagement.” This lecture will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025, in Ellis Ballroom, Ellis Hall, and is free and open to the public.

Kiely brings more than thirty years of experience in community-engaged teaching and research, working with partners in the United States and abroad. His scholarship examines how community-based learning impacts students, faculty, institutions, and the communities they serve. A nationally recognized leader in the field, Kiely has been honored as a John Glenn Scholar in Service-Learning, inducted into the Academy of Community Engagement Scholarship, and co-authored Community-Based Global Learning: The Theory and Practice of Ethical Engagement at Home and Abroad.

This event is part of The Calvert Ellis Distinguished Lectureship, established in memory of Calvert N. Ellis, Class of 1923 and sixth president of Juniata College, which brings thought leaders in philosophy and education to campus each year.
