Scout Geology Merit Badge Program at the HGMS Annual Gem, Mineral, Jewelry & Fossil Show

The HGMS makes good use of our Society’s extensive earth science resources to teach the Scout Geology Merit Badge at the HGMS Annual Show. We cover general geology and basic rock types, properties of minerals and fossils, economic uses of minerals, types of geoscience careers and requirements to enter this profession. We’ll also start Scouts on acquiring their mineral/fossil collection.
Girl Scouts and Webelos can also earn their earth science achievement awards through our program:
For Girl Scouts, HGMS created a Geology patch to recognize completion of this Merit badge program. Patches can be purchased for $3.00 after completion.
The Webelos program was revised in 2015–2016. Now the geology badge is included in an Arrow of Light Elective Adventure program called Earth Rocks!
