Bring your early-years arty bods for magical mornings with Michele Davy, a wildlife artist with 25 years of running 'Kids Go Wild' workshops on East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Nature Reserves. Using her knowledge of habitats, life cycles, and food chains, Michele brings the wonders of our local wildlife indoors to Humber Street Gallery for these unique and inspiring workshops for under-fives. Children will become mini scientists, explorers, and artists all in one morning, as they discover brilliant bats, colourful cats, and hibernating hedgehogs through stories, playful games, and hands-on art - letting their imaginations roam wild!
Week 1 - Thursday 23 October
Brilliant Little Bats! Fly, flap, and sparkle on an adventurous Halloween bat journey for under-fives! Create your own glowing UV bat wings, play bat movement games to find food using echolocation, and catch imaginary insects before resting in our shimmering bat cave filled with sounds and bat squeaks. Drift into hibernation at the end of your night-time flight, then plant your own acorn to grow into an Oak tree - a future home for the insects that bats love to eat! A magical mix of art, storytelling, and discovery for curious little bats and their grown-ups.
Week 2 - Thursday 30 October
Curious Halloween Cats. Join us for a magical Halloween Cat Adventure! - a fun, creative workshop for under-5s filled with art, movement, and storytelling. Together we will make cat masks, explore shadow play and moonlight dens, follow glowing paw prints, sing in a 'musical cats' choir, try gentle cat yoga, and discover where real cats live and play....meow! A purr-fect mix of creativity, imagination, and sensory discovery for cute kittens and their cool parent cats.
Week 3 - Thursday 6 November
Hedgehog Nights: From Autumn Leaves to Winter Dreams. Join us for a snuffly Hedgehog Adventure - a magical mix of art, movement, sound and story-telling where Hedgehogs meets the hedgerow! We’ll rustle, roll, and curl like hungry hedgehogs, make clay and leafy creations, explore cosy homes and tasty treats, and plant an acorn to grow your own Oak tree - a future home for hedgehogs and friends as they snuggle down to hibernate, ready for Winter.
