This 12km circular route blends dramatic scenery, woodland trails, and high moorland views — perfect for walkers looking for a rewarding, sociable day out in the Peak District.
What to Expect
We begin at Fairholmes Car Park and follow the woodland tracks alongside Derwent Reservoir, famous for its Dambusters connection.
From here, we ascend gradually onto the moors before reaching the incredible rock formations of Alport Castles, with time to soak up views across Alport Valley.
Our return route includes quieter trails and a scenic stop at Ballhag Tor, offering wide open views across the Upper Derwent landscape.
This is a steady-paced, supportive group walk led by Sara, a trained Hill & Moorland Leader who loves sharing her passion for the Peak District.
