Join Columbia County Players for A Free Clowning Workshop for Actors on Saturday, January 17 and Sunday, January 18, from 10am to 3pm at The Spark of Hudson, located at 502 Union Street, Hudson, New York.
No registration is required.
This workshop is a great opportunity for actors to explore the world of clown, celebrating failure and embracing idiocy. Focusing on play and what brings us joy on stage, the clown is always searching for a game to play and to share their pleasure with the audience. For actors, clowning is a tool for honing presence, vulnerability, and that sparkle in your eyes that lets your audience know you are all there to have a good time.
Note: This workshop is not circus clowning. We will not be wearing red noses, juggling, or spinning plates. We will focus on the essence of what makes us funny on stage.
About the Instructors
Jack and Zoe are American clowns who met while studying at Ecole Philippe Gaulier in France. They create and produce shows together, including A Night of Drama (“Best shows in 2024” — Time Out NY), with sold out performances in New York City and internationally in London and at the Edinburgh Fringe, and Dog Funeral (“A hilariously unconventional take on grief” — Cog Journal), which has performed in London, Ventnor Fringe, and The Berkshires. Jack and Zoe have performed with Underbelly at the Edinburgh Fringe and with London-based companies.
