This exciting performance will take place on December 5th at 7:30 PM The Strand Theater in Hudson Falls.

$15 Seniors/Students
Tickets available at mystrandtheater.org or at the door.
"CLOSE TO THE EARTH" was collaboratively developed and composed by Miller and Reid after dozens of hours of interviewing scientists, activists and other stakeholders all centered around how climate change affects the Adirondack region.
Over the course of 2024, they crafted a piece of mixed media chamber music for cello, voice, piano and electronics that explores different elements of Adirondack ecosystems - be it the ambient noise of birdsong and cicada, to the power effects of food-chain disruption - and how it is threatened by climate change.
This is the latest in a string of collaborations between the two composers - their first being “Holding It All” (2021) a song cycle based on the poetry of local activist and author Bernice Mennis, and “What Their Eyes Have Seen” (2022) a collaborative oratorio focused on the experiences of frontline workers during the height of the COVID-19 quarantine. In addition to "CLOSE TO THE EARTH", Miller and Reid are currently developing a new song cycle titled “The Histories of Forgotten Peoples” with an expected premiere in the fall of 2026.
Funds from this performance will go towards a fully choreographed and staged production of “CLOSE TO THE EARTH” in the fall of 2026.
