Wendi Schneider: Within the Shadows

Please join us this Saturday to celebrate the opening reception of our new exhibition with artist Wendi Schneider! Widely known for her ongoing series of hand gilded photographs, Schneider returns to the foundational language of monochrome with a series of luminous natural and geometric forms on kozo paper.

Schneider's newest body of work reveals the light residing within the shadows, searching for the quiet luster which defines forms and hints at resilience. Born from the intimate experience of aging and a melancholia prompted by the seemingly eroding values of the world, Schneider's shifts in perception guide her to seek out spaces where opposing truths can coexist. Delicately layered gold leaf adds a touch of the sublime, transporting the viewer into a space where nuance governs and reality is mutable.
