The Works of Ching Yu at Project Row Houses

Hey there art lovers! Don't miss out on this solo exhibition by Ching Yu happening in the Community Gallery at 2521 Holman St on September 12, 2025 at 6:00 PM.

Ching-Yu was born and grew up at the top floor of the old hotel back in Taiwan, which is her grandparents-run business since 1969. While studying Architecture in Taipei, she did a one-year project based on that bizarre and personal experience, titled “life in the hotel". On that project, she collaborated with her grandparents, which became a turning point for her art practices later on after leaving Taiwan to study master degree at Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade do Porto (Art and Design for Public Space) in Portugal during 2013-2015. To focus on art’s happening or existence through the engagement from other perspectives in different societies and to review the relations in between art and the public, especially with whom that could be considered outside of art realm yet builds the appearance of our society mostly.She is now based between Porto and Taipei. She considers herself as an artist in need of being placed in a certain environment out of the artist’s struggling reality and to practice her own survival kits in the art realm. Doing art residencies as the conditions being placed in certain environment.
