'Mirabai in Qawwali': Riyaaz Qawwali and Dr. Neelima Shukla-Bhatt

'Mirabai in Qawwali' brings the music of Riyaaz Qawwali together with the insights of Dr. Neelima Shukla-Bhatt, a Wellesley scholar of South Asian religions and literature. The concert blends Qawwali, a South Asian Sufi musical form, with the devotional poetry of Mirabai, a 16th century Hindu saint and poet from Rajasthan. Through new compositions, Riyaaz Qawwali reimagines Mirabai's verses of divine love and spiritual defiance within an Islamic musical framework.
