I was amazed to read the post that originally came with this beautiful photo, and to find out that sequoias have shallow roots! The way these giants stay standing and thrive is through a 50-80 feet wide root system, interweaving with other sequoias around them. (Credit: Rob Avis)
This of course reminded me not only of the importance of community for humans, but also of the fact everything alive is, in fact, interconnected in some way or other. I am hoping to curate a playlist that reminds us of this and encourages us to dance more interconnectedly than ever!
We'll start with basic contact improvisation pre-warm-up warm-up (and possibly some form of vocal warm-up too) and continue at 7:30pm for 20 minutes of free warm-up to music, before opening circle launches us into the usual unusual 80 minutes musical journey ;)
Attendance to this event is free, with donations to help cover space rental and post-dance-cake ingredients encouraged and welcome ($15-$25 suggested).
More about InnerFlow: The constantly evolving technique I have developed after many years of dancing and/or facilitating at Sweat Your Prayers, The Silent Language of the Body, Ecstatic Dance Houston, InnerFlow's intention is to cultivate joy, balance and freedom, and naturally balance our chakras through authentic, improvised movement inspired by very eclectic music from all over the world. Let the music move you and find more freedom of expression - your own inner flow!
Celebrating our full, common humanity while opening to eclectic, soul- and heart-healing sounds from all over our amazing planet...
Above all - staying curious, keeping our hearts open, constantly becoming <3
